The startup scene in Amsterdam has come a long way in recent years. With the city’s economy rapidly evolving and technology becoming more commonplace, there is no turning back for the capital city of the Netherlands.
According to Dealroom, Amsterdam-based startups have raised €698M so far in 2022, their second-highest H1 on record. While this is a 75 per cent decrease YoY, H1 2022 is already the second highest H1 for Amsterdam VC Investment, adds the report.
Currently, we are into the seventh month of 2022 now, and several Amsterdam-based startups have raised funding and are actively hiring.

Cooper Pet care

Cooper Pet Care provides online veterinarian services to modern pet owners. Through its platform, users can book a video consultation with certified veterinarians to discuss their pet’s symptoms and get advice on pet healthcare, nutrition, or behavioural topics.
Earlier this month, the Amsterdam company secured €900K in a fresh round of funding from Singapore-based global early-stage venture capital firm Antler, London-based VC firm Flyer One Ventures, and other VCs and business angels.

A couple of weeks back, the Amsterdam company raised €500K in a pre-seed round of funding from Rabobank, Holland Startup, and two angel investors.
FlexiDAO
Founder/s: Joan Collell and Simone Accornero

FlexiDAO’s software platform uses blockchain technology to certify and trace electricity from production to consumption.
Active in 13 countries, the Amsterdam-based platform enables customers to understand the origin and carbon footprint of the energy they consume, and take action to procure cleaner electricity and drive decarbonisation of their operations.
FlexiDAO raised €6.1M in a Series A round of funding led by SET Ventures. Currently, the company is hiring for IT, Marketing, Products, and Sales. You can check the open positions here.
Thalex

Thalex is a trading platform offering stablecoin-settled crypto options and futures. The trading platform is now available for public testing and will go live soon. The company is in the process of being authorised as a regulated DLT provider by the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission.
Earlier this month, the Amsterdam company raised €7.5M in a Series A round of funding.
BIYU
Founder/s: Martijn Tjho and Frans Biegstraaten

BIYU offers rental equipment services for gardening, parties, cleaning, and the kitchen. The company provides access to several products from leading brands for a fixed monthly fee. It includes products such as power tools from Festool, DJ sets from Pioneer, gardening tools from STIHL, high-pressure washers from Kärcher, and more.
Earlier this month, Amsterdam’s BIYU secured €1.9M in a Seed round of funding from impact investor Urban Impact Ventures and tech-for-good investor Arket Ventures.
