4 Steps to Avoid Burnout as a Female Entrepreneur

There is no denying that you will undoubtedly wear many hats as a female entrepreneur as you build your business from the ground up. Striving for that all elusive work-life balance can seem like an impossible dream that is simply light-years away for you right now.

But at what point do you make time for yourself? Because if you aren’t making time for yourself, how can you expect others to do so too? Plus, we all know the dangers burnout can pose to your business and your physical and mental health. The last thing you want is to put all the hard work in only to drop the ball due to burning yourself out once you get where you are going.

As a busy female entrepreneur, how do you look after yourself so you can keep doing what you?

Set Boundaries

From the day, this needs to be an emphatic and enforced rule. Be it set working hours when you do not check emails or fire off a query or contact a new supplier. Nothing. And this goes for responding to clients too. Do you know what happens to a piece of elastic when it is pulled too far? It loses its shape and elasticity for good. You do not want to reach the point where that piece of elastic is too far gone to bounce back. You need the time off, so set your limits and stick to them.

Self Care

Somewhat of a buzzword laundered around these days, but self-care is still a vague and somewhat laughable concept. Self-care is the act of doing an activity or non-activity, if this is the case, in order to help yourself relax, recharge, and recuperate. This can mean different things to different people, so you need to figure out what self-care is. What makes you feel better or relaxes you – such as the contents of a joint case or deep tissue massage.

Eat Well, Drink Water, Move More

Stay hydrated, eat a balanced and varied diet and do some exercise regularly. The better your diet, the better you will feel and the healthier you will be. A well-balanced diet supplemented with water – at least 8 cups a day can feel more alert and less sluggish. Sure, you may need a cup, or two of coffee to get going in the morning, but this can boost your system in conjunction with a healthy diet. Surviving off junk food will make you feel terrible and bloated and will result in giving you energy dips, an irritable mood, and a dull complexion.

A Good Night’s Sleep

The holy grail is getting a restful and refreshing night’s sleep. The guidelines state we need at least 8 hours per night, however, some people need more sleep than others, and you may find that a solid 6 hours of restful quality sleep is all you need. Find what works for you, foster a healthy bedtime routine to encourage a better quality of sleep, and look forward to a more refreshed and alert version of you.
