New year, new chances to meet up, expand your horizon and learn some new skills. Visiting a tech event is a great way to advance your career, boost your startup or meet interesting new people. There are a bunch of them planned in the Amsterdam region, here are the ones we don’t want you to miss.
Meeting up these days may be a little bit more complicated than it used to be, with the current lockdown and the uncertain path COVID leaves us with. Many events listed have taken precautions and offer their programme online, so you can attend remotely. For in-person meetings, make sure to check beforehand what precautions the organisation has taken to keep everyone safe and healthy.

Accelerator Squared: Customer Discovery Challenge

What’s your customer’s problem? That question is essential for any early stage startup to answer. Without knowing the pains of your target audience, it’s hard to offer them something worthwhile. The Customer Discovery Challenge is a two-week sprint to help founders create products and services that people love. This means you’re diving into customer interviews and improve your business proposition. All while connecting with peers and learning the tools of the trade by seasoned customer discovery leads. Amsterdam Law Hub: Law Clinics

Beginning with a new startup or project is exciting, but there’s also a lot of things to think about. To make sure all your legal criteria are in order upon starting up, Amsterdam Law Hub has partnered up with Pro Bono Connect and over a dozen Zuidas offices to provide free, monthly law clinics. This one is focused specifically on the criteria of establishment for startups and NGOs. The clinic will guide you through the legal basics of setting up shop and its financial challenges. You can also subscribe to a slot for more in-depth advice from one of the legal counsels. Registration for the upcoming clinic is open, but don’t wait too long!
IGNITE | 2022 Techleap.nl Summit

The Dutch tech ecosystem is booming and it is time to celebrate. At the same time it is also good to recognise there are still many opportunities and untapped potential in the ecosystem. Techleap.nl aims to cover both at their IGNITE summit. The programme includes both a general overview of the current state of the tech ecosystem in the country, as well as deep dives on several related topics by renowned speakers. The event will also offer ample opportunity to expand your network and meet interesting people. The event is free and online so anyone, anywhere can sign up to join.
JSWorld Conference 2022 – VueJS Amsterdam

Frontend developers of the world, this is where you need to be. The largest conferences involving anything JavaScript, all on one ticket. With 60 industry leading speakers sharing their knowledge to over 3000 attendees from all over the world. From established libraries like Angular and Svelte, to new tech like Astro and Vite.js, to e-commerce solutions like Snipcart and BigCommerce: everything is covered.
The second and third days of the conference are all about Vue.js as it turns into the largest Vue conference in the world. ADS Tech020 – career fair for data science & AI

Amsterdam Capital House 2022

Those three things are the focus of Amsterdam Capital House. The three day founder-focused programme covers everything startups need to know. From access to funding, network building, team growth, sustainable business, and more, while at the same time fostering meaningful relations with peers and experts. Making sense of Web3.0

We’re all knee-deep in Web3.0. Dabbling with NFTs and the metaverse. But if you’ve got the feeling it sometimes doesn’t make too much sense yet, this is the meeting to join. An online meetup to share knowledge, ideas and to connect people. It’s hosted by Zoe Scaman who is helping brands to understand the new web3.0 economy, and Rutger van Zuidam, builder of an open source web3.0 metaverse stack for collaboration. Anyone is welcome, whether you’re all-in or just want to dip your toes.

LeWagon free coding courses

LeWagon is world-famous for offering intensive, full-time bootcamps that will kickstart your career in tech. If you can’t devote weeks of your life to fully submerge yourself into learning a new trade, they also offer smaller courses, tech talks and demo days. Subjects range from ‘machine learning for beginners’ to ‘creating your own landing page’ or ‘using data for marketers’. All the courses and talks are completely free and can be attended online. Leapfunder Angel Clinic & other sessions

Leapfunder is bringing angel investors and startup founders together. As part of that they organise a whole range of sessions, clinics and workshops. Both investors looking for startups and startups looking for investors can take advantage of sessions that are taking place almost every week. Events include the Angel Clinic; divided into three sessions, it covers everything from investing 101 to the legal matters involved. Founders can sign up for the ‘Investor Readiness Session’ or the Pitch Deck Clinic, to get them closer to raising funding. There are also several round table sessions planned to connect with peers, see what is scheduled and sign up here.
Techionista / We Rise upskilling track

Techionista and We Rise both aim to get more women in tech. Now they’ve partnered up to offer an upskilling track which allows women to take their first steps into a world of data and AI. The two-day track offers inspiration, information and hands-on practice with data visualisation software Power BI. The course can be done from home, yet the classes are small so there’s proper guidance and attention for everyone attending. It’s free for women from Amsterdam and surrounding areas, all it requires is a membership of We Rise. A date for the next track is yet to be confirmed, but registration is already open. Sovereign Nature Initiative Winter 2022 Hackathon

Where: De Ceuvel, Amsterdam
Restoring the balance between human behaviour and nature. That is the aim of the hackathon organised by the Sovereign Nature Initiative. Innovators can work on solutions regarding urban agriculture, data collection of for instance air quality or explore land trust models for a better partnership with nature. The best solutions not only get a cash and crypto prize to make their invention a reality. They can also showcase their idea at the post-industrial sustainable workplace De Ceuvel in Amsterdam. The hackathon itself is full, but you can still check out the results at their public event in May.
