TicketSwap, an Amsterdam-based online marketplace for buying and selling tickets, announced that it has expanded to new markets in Europe and Latin America.

TicketSwap has also signed a multi-year deal with Sziget, the company behind Sziget Festival, Balaton Sound and Volt, as the brand’s official resale partner until 2026. However, the details of the anniversary festivities will be announced shortly, says the company.

“We’re thrilled to support our partners in this crucial phase for their businesses. Our 10th anniversary is also the perfect occasion for us to give back to the community and partners,” says Simon Aurik, CMO & CCO of TicketSwap.

Currently, the company has around 6,000 partners, including ID&T Group (Netherlands), Hellfest (France), LWE (UK), Bootshaus (Germany), Norbergfestival (Sweden), and Entourage and Ingresse (Brazil).

Tamás Kádár, CEO of Sziget, says, “After the pandemic, fan behaviours are changing dramatically, and with over 750,000 people attending our events every year, it’s crucial for us to have an option for fans to safely sell their tickets to other authentic fans.”

“I’m convinced that the more we see event organisers supporting ethical fan resale sites, the quicker we can bring an end to ticket touts and help protect our fans,” he adds.

TicketSwap: What you need to know

Founded in 2012 by Frank Roor, Hans Ober and Ruud Kamphuis, TicketSwap is an online platform where users can sell their tickets for concerts, festivals, sports events, and theatres.

A cap on the sales price and verification of the sellers protect buyers from exorbitant prices and fake tickets.

The company aims to make secondary ticketing fairer, safer and transparent for real fans, thanks to its anti-fraud technology SecureSwap.

Currently, the platform has 6.5M users in 36 countries and offers a fair and safe experience for fans attending more than 40,000 live events globally every year.

The platform is currently available in nine languages and supports the 14 most used currencies.

In June, 2021, the company raised €8.2M in funding from venture builder Million Monkey from Amsterdam.

“Thanks to our first funding raised in June 2021 ($10M, via investor Million Monkeys), we’ve focused on the business growth and expansion to new markets, while reinforcing our presence in existing markets,” says Hans Ober, co-founder and CEO of TicketSwap.
