German founded AI startup Solsten bags €21.6M to helps companies create better digital experiences


Berlin-born Solsten, a AI platform, announced on Thursday that it has secured $21.8M (approximately €21.6M) in a Series B round of funding led by Denver-based Konvoy.

Other investors, including Inventure, GFR Fund, Sisu Game Ventures, and University of Wisconsin-Madison alumni fund Bascom Ventures participated in the round. New investors Galaxy Interactive, Dentsu Ventures, and Warburg Serres also participated. To date, the German company has raised $31M (approximately €30.7M).

Solsten: What you need to know

Founded by Joe Schaeppi and Bastian Bergmann in 2018, Solsten helps companies create more engaging, livelier, and healthier digital experiences through the analysis of human psychology. The company is currently headquartered in Minneapolis, US. 

Through its AI-based platform, Solsten allows brands to understand their customers on a deeply human level and create experiences that truly resonate. 

The company’s technology offers insights from its three core elements – Traits, Navigator, and Frequency. 

  • Traits provide a deep understanding of an audience’s psychological make-up and personality, 
  • Navigator helps to identify a product’s best future audience.
  • Frequency is used to predict how creative ideas will resonate with their audiences. 

Solsten’s platform is used by many international gaming studios and publishers, including MobilityWare, Mythical Games, Sky Mavis, Super Evil Megacorp, Starbreeze, Tilting Point, and Wooga.

Konvoy: What you need to know

Konvoy is an early-stage investment firm that invests in the frontier of gaming. With the launch of Konvoy Fund III, it will have $270M (approximately €267M) under management. Konvoy’s portfolio consists of 33 companies that collectively raised $450M (approximately €446M) in follow-on funding.
