Michael van Lier, founder & Managing Director at Builders, says, “Remote work and the increased feeling of loneliness represent the biggest legacy of COVID-19, while also having a huge impact on the future of living. With Obeyo we help operators upgrade their living experience by adding a social layer to their properties and therefore future-proofing their business.”
Obeyo raises fresh funds
With an initial investment capital of €500K, Obeyo will develop the product as well as hire new talents. With the raised capital, the company will also be expanding its early-access program to customers in the Netherlands, the UK, Portugal, Singapore, Brazil, and the US in the following weeks.
What does Obeyo offer?
Founded in 2020 and led by Michael Steinmann, former CCO of HousingAnywhere, Obeyo aims to address the feeling of loneliness across young adults, which quadrupled following the pandemic, according to several studies.
The company believes that by creating meaningful human connections and building communities, it can tackle these challenges and help reverse the negative effects of pandemic-driven lockdowns and isolation.
Obeyo’s operating system and the community app is built through the learnings from over 100+ shared living operators. It provides actionable data, insights, and automation to reduce operating costs and address key challenges faced by operators, as well as focus on providing flexible living arrangements and adaptable spaces.
Speaking on the development, Steinmann says, “We started out by looking at the co-living niche, but it soon became clear that community is an increasingly important piece in many social living spaces. From student accommodations to multifamily housing and senior living facilities, we were overwhelmed by how many operators have reached out looking to add a social layer to their space. We look forward to working with these providers to create a more meaningful living experience – while also helping to drive down the cost of operations through automation.”
Obeyo aims to revamp the residential living sector and support over 250,000 people to improve their social life over the next three years.
