Myntra CEO Nandita Sinha to lead Flipkart Fashion

Nandita Sinha, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Myntra, will also lead Flipkart Fashion, expanding her responsibilities within the company beyond her current role as the head and Vice President of Myntra’s fashion division.

This transition comes as Arief Mohamad steps down from the company after nearly 9 years. Flipkart Fashion and Myntra will continue to function as two separate divisions under Sinha and will retain their original structure, despite having a common leader, according to a Flipkart spokesperson. Flipkart CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy had informed employees about the change in an email a couple of days back.

“A seasoned leader and group veteran, she has been instrumental in driving the growth of numerous businesses within the Flipkart ecosystem. Under her leadership, Myntra has solidified its position in the fashion industry, while also paving its path for the next phase of growth. Flipkart Fashion and Myntra will continue to operate independently under Nandita’s leadership as she guides the broader strategic direction for Fashion,” the spokesperson said.

Sinha, a former executive at fast moving consumer goods companies like Britannia and Unilever, had joined Flipkart in January 2016 as a senior director and was later promoted as the vice president of customer growth, media and engagement in April 2019. In January 2022, she transitioned within the Flipkart Group and joined Myntra as its CEO.

Flipkart and Myntra are both owned by Walmart.

Mohamad, meanwhile, had joined Flipkart in 2015 to head the kids, beauty and women accessories segment and was elevated as the vice president of fashion only in November last year.

The transition comes at a time when competition in the online fashion segment is rising among platforms like Meesho, Nykaa, Reliance-owned Ajio, Tata’s Tata Cliq and Amazon among others.
