Rising Trends: Magical Tea, Anti-anxiety Furniture, and Window Cleaning

Magical Tea

Herbal teas have gained significant popularity over the past few years with increased awareness about the potential side effects of our regular caffeinated drinks.

Multiple herbal teas have made their mark on tea lovers worldwide, including those made from flowers like jasmine and chamomile. While these teas are famous for their soothing flavors, some teas like butterfly pea flavor tea were not garnering mainstream attention until recently.

Butterfly pea flower tea is having its moment now.

Butterfly pea flower tea, also known as blue tea, is a herbal tea with zero caffeine made from the Clitoria ternatea flowers, a butterfly pea plant.

The butterfly pea plant is commonly found in most Southeast Asian countries. The deep blue color of its flowers’ petals has traditionally been used to make dye. Its tea until recently was only popular in Asian countries like Vietnam and Thailand, where it is served post-dinner.

Blue tea has multiple benefits, including antioxidants, reduced stress, lowered blood pressures, glowing skin, weight loss, etc.

However, its most unique selling point – and a characteristic that made it famous, is that the blue tea changes color when its pH balance changes. For instance, if you add lemon in the butterfly pea tea, its color will change from blue to purple, creating what is referred to as “magical tea.” The more lemon juice you will add, the deeper shade of purple you will get. And if you mix it with Fuschia roselle hibiscus, you will get a bright red color, too (12).

According to Jungle Scout, some organic butterfly pea flower tea makes about 48k to 60k USD a month on Amazon (34).

The tea is being popularly used in cocktails where the showmanship of the cocktail making includes the instantaneous color change in front of guests that ordered the drink. Other uses of the butterfly pea flower extract in punch bowls or cocktails include freezing the tea into ice cubes, leading to a color change of the drink as the ice cube melts, leading to what has been named a “mood ring cocktail.”

You can capitalize on this magical tea trend by including the key ingredients in flavored waters and drinks, DIY bubble teas, and even popsicles (5). You don’t even have to stop at beverages. You can also consider adding flowers into beauty and cosmetic products such as lotions, bath bombs, and soaps, thanks to their multiple beneficial properties.

There is also a whipped lemonade trend getting viral on TikTok at the moment (6); you can also combine this magical tea with it. Dalgona coffee flashbacks anyone?
