This Is How Much CBD You Should Give Your Dog

Over 80% of people agree that giving a dog CBD is a more effective and safer treatment than other medications.

The popularity of CBD for dogs has skyrocketed, and that’s down to the number of amazing benefits of CBD. If your dog is suffering from pain, arthritis, or behavioral issues, CBD may be the best thing for it. And, if you keep reading, you’ll learn how much CBD you should give your dog and where to find the best CBD for dogs.

1. Small Dogs (2 – 15lbs)

Smaller dogs require the smallest dose of CBD. Although that sounds great at first, there are some caveats to this.

The thing is, smaller dogs have faster metabolisms than larger breeds. This means you will have to increase the frequency of CBD care to 3 to 4 doses every day, rather than the 1 to 2 dosages larger dogs require.

If your dog has chronic pain, you should start the CBD dose at 1mg at the very beginning.

With behavioral conditions like anxiety, a dosage of 1/2 mg of oil to start. If you don’t see any results within 3 to 5 days, you can begin adding a couple of drops and measure the results over time.

However, avoid exceeding 15 mg of CBD per day in small dogs.

2. Small to Medium-Sized Dogs (15 – 30lbs)

Research has shown that small to medium-sized dogs have success with a 2mg dose, and bumping that up by 3mg until the desired results are met. This research refers to dogs who have pain and arthritis.

When using CBD to treat psychological issues and lack of appetite, you should half the dose mentioned above. But be aware that the maximum CBD dose allows for a small to medium-sized dog is around 20mg a day.

3. Medium to Large-Sized Dogs (30 – 60lbs)

It may seem obvious, however, larger dogs need greater amounts of CBD in order to get the desired results. But what is the right initial CBD dose for pain and arthritis?

Well, it’s thought that a 1 to 3 mg CBD dosage is perfect at the beginning. However, this depends greatly on the severity of the pain. If this dosage is not getting you the results you are looking for, try increasing the dosage by 3mg until your dog begins feeling better.

When treating behavioral conditions, like lack of focus, anxiety, and lack of appetite, the agreed dosage is 1mg twice a day. And look to increase by 2 mg if your dog is showing no signs of improvement. However, do not exceed 30 mg of CBD per day.

4. Large Dogs (60 – 150lbs)

CBD treatment for large dogs is very much the same as the treatment for medium to large dogs. Therefore, the same general instructions should be followed.

Although very large will require much higher doses, it is recommended to increase dosages slowly by 3 mg per dose until you get the desired results.

It is important, however, to remember that not all CBD products have the same concentration of CBD and therefore you need to do some research before buying anything. Click for more information.
