California-based Workday, a provider of SaaS enterprise solutions for human resources and financial management activities, announced on Monday that it intends to create 1,000 jobs over the next two years at its European headquarters in Dublin.

Ireland’s Taoiseach Micheál Martin TD says, “Today’s announcement of 1,000 new jobs by Workday is a very significant endorsement of Ireland as a place to do business and in our reputation as a leading tech hub in Europe. It is a vote of confidence in the skills and talent of our workforce and in our continued attractiveness to leading global companies. I also welcome the company’s decision to construct its new European headquarters at Grangegorman in Dublin.”

The hiring spree will increase Workday’s Irish workforce by approximately 60 per cent. Currently, the company employs nearly 1,700 staff in Dublin to support its more than 9,500 customers worldwide. It will be looking to hire across its product development, engineering and data science, sales, services and user experience teams.

Workday’s new European headquarters

The development is supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland. Workday also announced plans to construct its new European headquarters at Grangegorman, Dublin 7, to support its growth and deepen its local community partnerships.

Workday’s new European headquarters will be a highly-sustainable 550,000 square foot campus across approximately four acres in a Strategic Development Zone, adjacent to Technological University Dublin. Workday has agreed to buy the site from the HSE.

The company’s current headquarters are located at the Kings Building in Smithfield. As planning begins for the new Grangegorman base, Workday will augment its existing office space by becoming the anchor tenant at the Dockline building in Dublin 1. In addition to transport links and facilities, the 80,000 square foot Dockline Building has approximately 200 bicycle spaces and is BER A3 energy rated.
