Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, is growing increasingly excited about the arrival of another event full of endless opportunities for entrepreneurs and tech enthusiasts.
The much-awaited tech festival, TNW (The Next Web) Conference for 2022, returns to Amsterdam. Now in its 16th year, the TNW Conference, one of Europe’s best-known conferences, is scheduled on June 16 and 17 at Taets Arts and Event Park in Amsterdam.

What is TNW Conference?
TNW Conference is a 2-day technology event in the greater Amsterdam area that brings industry leaders and tech enthusiasts under one roof for business, knowledge exchange, and a lot of fun.
With more speakers, networking, workshops, businesses, and attendees, TNW 2022 is going to be off the charts! To give you a perspective, TNW 2022 will see:

- A 2,000 SQM expo floor
- 325+ participating startups
- 10,000 attendees
Attendees can access valuable keynote content, match with keynote speakers, and engage with like-minded attendees from anywhere in the world.

Amsterdam startups at TNW Conference 2022
Like every year, the teams of StartupAmstedam and Smart Health Amsterdam scout, select and invite several of Amsterdam’s most innovative startups and scale-ups to exhibit and represent their home city at The Next Web Conference. And 2022 is not an exception.
StartupAmsterdam and Smart Health Amsterdam
To reiterate, StartupAmsterdam is an action programme run by the City of Amsterdam that brings the public and private sectors together to support startups, scale-ups, entrepreneurs, and other players in the local ecosystem.
Smart Health Amsterdam is the network for data and AI-based innovation in Amsterdam’s Life Sciences & Health sector. It was founded in close collaboration with the City of Amsterdam, with the Board contributing to the ecosystem and network.
Both StartupAmsterdam and Smart Health Amsterdam are part of Gemeente Amsterdam’s Economic Department.
Why are startups excited to participate in TNW 2022?
Everyone has their go-to tech events – the conferences that they always look forward to. If the goal is to meet influential people and be inspired to change the future of your industry in a day, TNW 2022 is the flagship tech event one must attend.
Plekky, an Amsterdam-based space sharing platform, is one of the startups selected to showcase their product at the TNW Conference 2022. Talking about it, the company says, “It is a great honour to be at the StartupAmsterdam stand at TNW. We have always wanted to visit the TNW Conference ourselves and now we can be seen at a stand and we can even pitch! Super cool to be among the other startups and also to be able to show our concept to the entire tech world and especially to learn and network with all startups, companies, and visitors.”
NeuroReality, an Amsterdam-based medtech startup, is now at the TNW conference for the second consecutive time. Sharing their experience, the company says, “Last year was our first year of participation and we connected with so many interesting and exciting people. We are looking forward to making more new connections and networking, but especially showing everyone at TNW our updated version of Koji’s Quest and our new clinical dashboard. It’s always great to gain feedback on our serious VR game from people who’ve worked with VR before.”
TNW 2022, the flagship tech event, isn’t like any other event. It offers plenty of opportunities for self-development, from learning about new technologies to meeting inspirational speakers and future leaders who will shape our paths moving forward.

The TNW Talks are known for being daring, bold, inspirational, and aspirational. This year, 150+ expert speakers are expected to bring fresh insights covering a wide range of topics – Boost, Growth Quarters, Future Proof, Impact, Neural, Shift, Sprint, and Tech & Money.
Spectrum Intelligence, a data annotation platform that serves inclusive society and the inclusive economy, says, “Being present and present our inclusive startup at the tone of the most exclusive startups events is a privilege. It gives us an amazing platform to present our inclusiveness of combining strong social, technological, and economic impact.”
Seeking help dealing with bottlenecks
In a startup journey, entrepreneurs will reach a point where they may feel like it’s hard to take another step forward. That’s because every step always comes with new challenges and obstacles that need to be addressed before they spiral out of control. Here’s where events like TNW Conference come in handy.

Talking about the challenges, NeuroTeality says, “We have a lot of great developments going on at NeuroReality, but like every startup also have challenges or opportunities, as we like to call them. Currently, we are working on our Seed financing, finding more clinical research partners interested in helping us establish efficacy with our addressable patient populations, and finding more strategic distribution partners worldwide.”
According to Amsterdam’s space sharing platform Plekky, finding the hidden vacant space in offices is the biggest challenge currently.
“Since our concept is something quite new, the mindset of opening your office to a startup when you have spare space, should become normal. Cases, improving brand awareness as well as good referrals will contribute to this.”
TNW Conference holds plenty of opportunities for startups from driving brand awareness for the company, gathering feedback, and evaluating ideas to making valuable connections.
Anywyse is attending its first TNW conference as it seeks to scale faster on all aspects right from team expansion to deep knowledge about foreign markets.
Spectrum Intelligence on the other hand seeks more customers with additional projects.

NeuroReality is a medtech startup that aims to change the way people approach cognitive training and rehabilitation through VR, neuroscience & gamification.
The Amsterdam startup provides VR games to train a variety of cognitive skills such as calculation, attention, memory, visuospatial abilities, executive functions, and reaction time.
Currently, the company is running pilots in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Spain and will be available in the US on XRHealth’s virtual clinical platform.
The company is working on clinical efficacy with various new patient populations, with Koji’s Quest helping long-COVID patients, children with congenital heart defects, healthy children, and also those with learning disabilities

Health Curious is a platform that offers tracking tools and lifestyle support for bariatric surgery patients. The platform helps patients to stay up to date with the care team, including the surgeon, care coordinator, coach, dietitian, and any other support members. Health Curious has been selected to compete in the TNW conference’s Bootstrap Pitch Battle on 16 June.

Amsterdam-based Plekky makes on-demand rental of existing business spaces easier, more affordable, and more sustainable. The platform connects companies that have surplus square metres available to the new generation of entrepreneurs looking for a place to work. Recently, the company also received investment through Dragons Den.

Ozarka is a full-service Reusables as a Service (RaaS) company. The Dutch company offers solutions to any type of food vendor who wishes to transition from linear, single-use packaging to circular, reusable packaging.
The platform offers three integrated channels, ARK Reusables proprietary packaging, Packaging as a Service that collects, washing, and redistributes packaging, and a customer-facing online ordering platform for delivery or takeaway packaging in reusable containers.
Aectual
Founder/s: Hedwig Heinsman
Aectual develops industrial digital production technologies and software tools to create customisable and affordable building solutions.
Meaning, that the platform enables rapid, high-quality customised production of 3D printed architectural products at an industrial scale more affordably and sustainably.
All products are made from bio-based and/or recycled materials in zero waste and carbon-neutral production.

Lalaland.ai

Lalaland.ai uses artificial intelligence (AI) to develop highly realistic digital photo models for e-commerce applications for clothing and fashion brands. The Dutch company uses neural networks to generate images of artificial humans.
Recently, the company launched Genesis Meta Model Creator at CES 2022. It helps fashion brands and retailers create a highly personalised and inclusive shopping experience by generating a virtual fashion model of different body types, sizes, hair types, and skin complexions closest to the shopper’s preference.

Anywyse
Founder/s: Julien Jukema
Anywyse is an Amsterdam-based audio learning platform where everyone can become a creator. Anywyse’s platform provides students audio modules (‘Wysers’) of 10-15 minutes. These modules are written and voiced by selected students and voice actors.
The Wysers are built on a format that was created primarily for memorising material rather than the more “linear listening” found in podcasts.
The company was formed during the acceleration programme of the Humanities Lab – University of Amsterdam. The company has successfully launched its platform at the Erasmus University, the University of Amsterdam, The Radboud University, and the University of Utrecht. The company is also planning to launch it in four more places in the upcoming weeks.

Amsterdam-based Spectrum Intelligence is a startup thats aims to have a social and technological impact on the modern inclusive society and economy.
The company benefits from the workforce of people on the Autism Spectrum with advanced specific required skills, for providing Data Annotation services.
The company uses specific advanced skills from employees like precision, patience, attention to detail, and repetitiveness to provide quality, accurate secure data, and the best cost/efficiency value to the data annotation market requirements.
Recently, the company announced a new annotation project in collaboration with Gemeente Amsterdam. Further, the Dutch firm has been selected for a panel at the AI world summit in Amsterdam in October.

BeeSage is a beehive monitoring system that provides beekeepers with new insights about their beehives, optimises their workflow, and allows them to make informed decisions. The platform helps beekeepers prevent a loss of profit and increase productivity through IoT technology.
The company’s mission is to enable bees to share knowledge with the human race through real-time data, thus influencing policymakers towards environmental protection. The company has been selected to compete in the conference’s Bootstrap Pitch Battle on 16 June.
