Cashfree Payments appoints former Bandhan AMC exec Piyush Anchliya as CFO


Digital-payments enablement startup Cashfree Payments has has named Piyush Anchliya as its new Chief Financial Officer, as the company looks to scale operations.

Anchliya brings over 15 years of experience in investment banking, corporate finance, and M&A, having held senior roles at Barclays and the IDFC/Bandhan Group. Most recently, he served as the CFO of Bandhan AMC (formerly IDFC Asset Management Company). He holds an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad and a B.Tech. from IIT Kharagpur.

“This is an exciting time to join Cashfree Payments as it continues to drive innovation in India’s fintech space,” Anchliya said in a statement. “I am looking forward to advancing our strategic priorities, creating value for our stakeholders, and contributing to our mission of delivering the best in payments to businesses across the ecosystem.”

The appointment comes at a pivotal time for the Bengaluru-based company, which processes $80 billion in annual payments for over 800,000 businesses. In recent months, Cashfree secured three key regulatory licenses from the Reserve Bank of India: Payment Aggregator-Payment Gateway (PA-PG), Payment Aggregator-Cross Border (PA-CB), and Prepaid Instrument (PPI) licenses. The company also raised $53 million in a round led by KRAFTON and Apis Growth Fund II.

CEO and co-founder Akash Sinha welcomed the new CFO, saying Anchliya’s “valuable experience across financial services industry—will be key to scaling sustainably and strengthening our financial foundation.” He added, “We are excited to have him on board as we continue building the trusted financial backbone for businesses of all sizes.”

Anchliya replaces outgoing CFO Vikas Guru, who played a “pivotal role in Cashfree’s journey so far,” according to Sinha. Guru will remain involved during the transition period.

Founded in 2015 and backed by Y Combinator, Apis Partners, and the State Bank of India, Cashfree has grown into a major player in India’s digital payments sector. The company’s product suite includes payment collection tools, payout services, cross-border payment capabilities, and Secure ID, an AI-powered identity verification platform.
