Google’s flagship Android smartphone Pixel 9 is set to launch soon. This new device will reportedly comprise exciting new AI features including a revived version of Microsoft’s Recall.
For those unaware, Microsoft released a tool on its Copilot Plus PCs that raised privacy and security concerns. In response to the backlash, the tech giant delayed its release so will Google be able to pull off this feature better than them?

Google AI: All about the Pixel screenshot feature
Given the AI craze, most devices and tools are introducing generative AI capabilities and Google’s Android smartphone Pixel is no different. The search engine giant will reportedly launch new ML features under Google AI tipped by Andriod Authority.
The report suggests that Google AI will include a feature called Pixel Screenshots similar to Microsoft’s Recall which received backlash from industry experts and users. This feature can save and process details via screenshots to help users search through them according to the Andriod Authority report.
Is it less creepy than Microsoft Recall?
While Microsoft has delayed the release of their Recall feature, all eyes are on Google’s take on this type of tool. Pixel screenshots will allow users to enable or disable AI processing of screenshots based on user preference. This is a better approach than “Recall” which could record screenshots by default. Moreover, Pixel Screenshots store images that users will take to help users search for specific information.
More AI features on the way
Other than Pixel Screenshots, Google AI will reportedly bring 4 more features so let’s explore them one by one.
- Gemini AI assistant: The smartphone will come with a built-in AI assistant powered by Google’s AI chatbot Gemini.
- Add me: It will help users make sure that they are included in the group photo. This could be an upgraded version of ‘Best Take’, a feature on the Google Pixel 8 series that allows users to choose expressions or swap faces from a blend of multiple pictures.
- Circle to search: It enables users to search anything from text, images or video by drawing a circle.
- Studio: It is a creative assistant that could make AI-generated images and stickers/

Pixel rumoured to have Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner
The upcoming Google Pixel 9 is grabbing headlines for reportedly introducing an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner.
