There are seven types of keywords that you can use to grow your search traffic and strategic. And each one of them comes with their own pros and cons. But it’s important that you bring the right types of keywords and focus on where you’re going to lose a bunch of time and money. So, I will tell you how to choose the right keywords in your business.
First, let’s take a look at the same types of
generic keywords or general terms like shoes that are really specific these types of keywords have the highest search volumes, but also have the lowest 10, because you don’t really know what people are looking for. Are they looking for running shoes or formal shoes generic keywords are also typically very hard to rank for. And they offer the lowest conversion rate.
So they shouldn’t be the last type of
keywords, where the searcher is getting a bit more specific and instead of searching for just shoes, then now searching for running shoes, or basketball shoes or dress shoes. But we still like tennis. Do they want to learn about these shoes or buy them.
That brings us to exact keywords. They give us clear signals of topic and intense. Things like best running shoes or basketball shoes reviews leaves no room for interpretation and surgery usually has a clear idea of a product or service or content, they’re looking for.
But we can get even more specific with longtail keywords which may come around 70% of searches, they typically have less search traffic but the highest level is 10. For example, which are the best shoes to run a marathon, or which basketball shoes helped me jump higher longtail keywords are one of my favorite types of keywords to target, because they typically have competition, who bring the highest converting traffic, especially if they fall into the fire keywords pipe, where people are primed and ready to hand over their money and buy a product, these keywords include term like buy running shoes or basketball shoe deals, or Nike basketball shoes coupon or marathon, shoes, discount.
These are typically the last searches someone will make before handing over their money and they often include brand terms. So pay close attention to those types of keywords. And that brings us to well tire kicker keywords.
These are the exact opposite of buyer keywords and the made up of people that are just looking to get something for free. They usually search things like, learn how to play guitar for free, or how to start a free book guitar tire kicker keywords, often have high search volumes, but they always deliver the lowest quality traffic. Now, that doesn’t mean you should ignore lately, but you need to have an intelligent reason to target them.
For example, my free SEO tools post has been seen by over 1000 people, and delivered 1000s of new subscribers to me. But these people will probably grow to a point when they buy something in the future as
you’re probably wondering which type of keywords, should I be targeting. Well, honestly, there’s no single best type keyword for you to target, because each business, and even each piece of content has its own purpose and different types of views.
But in general, you should be focusing on longer tail keywords that fall into the informational or transactional categories that we talked about in the last video. These tend to hit the sweet spot between traffic and competition and intent, which will help you grow your business efficiently.
Or you could just use my free spreadsheet to look at precisely, which types of keywords, your competitors targeted to correct their businesses. Most businesses or less. The vast majority of your income is generated from banner advertising. In that case, search volume is the most important metric, because you’re purely looking to serve as many banner ads to as many people as possible.
