Madrid-based ifeel raises €5.5M to digitally scale access to therapy; here’s how


Generally, emotional well-being plays a significant role in maintaining positive mental health. It is crucial to prioritise mental health right now to mitigate the negative and often long-term effects. 

According to the research conducted by Deloitte, companies have lost £45B (approx €51B)  a year due to poor mental health experienced by employees. Also, around 60 per cent of companies report plans to increase well-being, mental health, and stress management benefit programmes for their employees. 

Here’s where the Madrid-based startup ifeel comes to the rescue. The Spanish startup provides users with a new way of managing their emotional well-being with self-care tools. 

Raised €5.5M 

To democratise access to therapies, ifeel has raised €5.5M series A round led by Nauta Capital with participation from existing investors. The company will use the funding to accelerate its international growth, expand its team and enhance the offerings. 

“The company is looking forward to expanding the team and to expand into new markets”, says Amir Kaplan, CEO, and co-founder of ifeel. 

Nauta Capital is a Pan-European Venture Capital firm investing in early-stage technology companies, with offices in London, Barcelona, and Berlin. With over half a billion assets under management and a team of 24 people, Nauta Capital is one of Europe’s largest B2B focused VCs.

All-in-one emotional well-being platform

Founded by Amir Kaplan, Martin Villanueva, and Gabriele Murrone in 2017, ifeel is the all-in-one emotional well-being platform for organisations and individuals. 

The platform was built after experiencing the pain and cost involved in accessing mental health care. 

Kaplan says: ”The health crisis and new blended employment models create a high need for managers to support remote employees and distant customers. We are proud of the success we achieved with leading global partners and are looking forward to leading the transition in the relationships created between companies and their employees and customers.”  

“We believe smart emotional support services will be a must-have benefit in the near future as the impact is so high. The safe and anonymous access to ifeel allows employees to improve their life with no need of manager referral,” he adds. 

Covers full spectrum of emotional well-being needs

The platform claims to leverage technology to make effective mental healthcare more scalable for organisations, and accessible and convenient for their employees and clients. 

With ifeel, users get self-care tools such as daily mood trackers, recommended exercises and activities as well as one-to-one online therapy sessions with licensed psychologists.

1000 per cent growth

As per the company’s claims, around 90 per cent of the users reported improved emotional and mental well-being after using ifeel. 

In 2020, the company pivoted to a hybrid business model, allowing its platform to be accessible to both individual users on a monthly subscription model or as part of employer’s or insurance provider’s cover.

As a result, the company has witnessed a 1000 per cent growth in the B2B business model. The company works with clients including AXA, Gympass, and Glovo.
