Sachin Tendulkar Invests In IoT Company Smartron India

Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has invested in Bangalore-based Internet of Things (IoT) company Smartron India, and has also become the brand ambassador of the company, reported ET.

“I have always been fascinated by technology. Smartron’s founding vision for the need for a robust product ecosystem in the country to grow is very impressive. We need to support brands that are designed and engineered in India by our entrepreneurs and engineers that ably compete in the global markets,” said Tendulkar.

“I look forward to being part of the growth journey of Smartron buoyed by tremendous growth opportunities offered by IoT worldwide??,” he added.

Smartron is headed by founder & Chairman Mahesh Lingareddy, who is also the co-founder and CEO of Soft Machines Inc. – a US-based semiconductor company. Smartron India has been operating in stealth mode since August 2014 and is set to launch a slew of smart devices and Internet of Things (IoT) products for consumer and enterprise markets in the first quarter of FY 2016-17.

Smartron aims to become an India-based premier global OEM brand, by aggregating and accelerating the product level (innovation, design and engineering) expertise in India to bring broad product mix to the market quickly. Smartron is focused on innovating and disrupting in the areas of smart, sensors, robotics, artificial intelligence, big data, and crowd technologies to bring great IoT platform enabled products that can lead and rival global brands in delivering memorable experience.
