Global messaging giant WhatsApp has launched a new feature, Context Card for its group messaging to provide users with an additional layer of safety.
The feature allows users to see who added them, how recently the group was created, and who created the group. This will help them decide whether or not to continue being a part of the group and review some of the safety tools available, the company said in a statement.
This is also helpful for users who just met someone or a group of people, and haven’t yet saved them in their contacts, it added.
The current safety and security features of the app include a chat lock, silencing unknown callers, and also allowing users to select who can add them to a group–Everyone, My contacts and My contacts except.
This feature is similar to what the platform offers in its personal messaging, where users can see more context when they are messaged by someone outside their contacts.
Last month, Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp launched AI chatbot Meta AI in India on WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, and meta.ai.
